Tonic Plantain is well named as this plant supplies excellent quantities of calcium, copper and selenium to grazing animals. It has also been shown to reduce intestinal worm intake in sheep. Tonic is an erect plant and should be grazed frequently to keep the sward fresh. Tonic grows mostly in the spring and autumn and shuts down when temperatures become too extreme in summer and winter. That will still allow 5 to 6 months grazing each year if pasture is managed well. Tonic is very versatile in what conditions it will grow and is suitable for use with sheep, beef and dairy cattle.
